Default Blown engine

About 3 days ago, I noticed there was a rattling noise coming from the engine but figured I was going to service my car soon I ignored it. Next day I was taking a friend down this driving range and couldnt help myself n floored it a bit.

I double clutched/rev matched downshift in the VTEC range a few times then i noticed the noise was getting quite serious. I took the car in the next morning for a check up at Honda and they said I blew a crankshaft in the engine and it needs to be replaced (Most likely due to low engine oil).

Now I have 2 options:
1. Replace it with a new engine ($11300AUD which is about $10500 USD plus labour)

2. Find a second hand engine... swap then sell it

I am not an expert at cars but would the blown engine have 'affected' other componenents of the car? IE. Would the car be as good as before if i got a brand new engine?

I love my 02 model s2k, its got about 45000km on it. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!

20 or 22?
If its 20 your prolly better off buying an ENTIRE care, swap the motor then part out the new car...

Or vica versa, w/e

I would get a second opinion... you can't "blow a crankshaft"...or i would hope so. You won't really know how bad the damage is until you take it apart. I would at the minimum pull the oil pan and see how bad things look (or get a mechanic to do it).

Either way, sorry to hear the bad news and good luck.

Edit: removed some speculation

I was thinking in terms of like other parts near the engine bay that may have been affected when the engine faltered. The last thing i want it to happen is for other parts to start breaking after the new engine is put in.

TIA guys~

Get a used engine and you are set to go.

Best option IMO, and sorry for the blown engine.

"Broken crankshaft caused by low oil" more than likely he just spun a bearing on the crank.

Seriously, is it really that expensive for a car over there?
Whats the average salary of a tech/IT/engineer per year over there? I wanna know if the working man's salary is inflated to match.
