Blown Engine (pics)
Got the car back with a new engine today. Only took them a week and a half! Everything seems okay so far. Now I just gotta break it in again.
This is the third time I've had to break in a new S2K engine! The first one was in my old car that got flooded.
I doubt insurance will cover this, but I'll ask anyway.

I actually got a little drunk one night about a month ago and I let my sober buddy drive us home in the S. He knows how to drive a stick, but he'snever driven an S and he's never driven a stick with such a short throw. Anyway, we were on the highway and he was in 5th probably doing about 55-60 and he was trying to put it in 4th to gain some power and I guess he pulled to the left a little to far and some how got it to drop into 2nd. Well needless to say, the dashboard lit completely up when the tach screamed all the way accross the readout. We also almost flew out the windsheild due to the gear slow-down. I was drunk, but I still had enough awareness to slap the stick up into neutral as fast as I could because he didn't seem to know what was going on. I saw a couple of red bars light up, but I think I disengaged it pretty quick. Like I said, it's been a while since it happenned and it seems to run fine.
But it definitely was scary.
But it definitely was scary.
There's no doubt that I would have made Honda pick up the tab. Hell, the dealer made me pay over sticker for the thing in the first place. And you know Honda can afford to throw a few extra engines around. If I paid that much to fix it I'd be scared to ever drive it over VTEC again.
Man those pics made me feel queasy
. My first engine mod is going to be a valve train thats good to 12,000 rpm in case of miss shifts. With six speeds, it's just to easy to miss a gear. I wonder if someone makes an automatic gear lock out for the Stook?
I know the price was outrageous, but I really respect your integrity.
