Can't the clear bra be seen when it's on the car? Also, my friend has a clear bra and where rocks have hit it it has left a nasty chip of the clear bra.
depends on the color. it's easiest to see on a white car, hardest to see on silver. And i'd bet that if your friend removed the clear bra, the rock didn't scratch the paint... imagine what that same rock would have done to painters tape (or yet, bare paint)?

again, this isn't my car, but if he wants to *drive* it... i'd put on a clear bra.. but then remove the clear bra before putting it into storage. It will remove without residue, but I wouldn't want to chance it if the car is sitting unused for years and years.

I dont know if they have fixed it, but I have seen clear bra's that look really bad.

A friend who lives in Las Vegas owns a black AP1 and her front end looks horrible (the clear bra is chipping away, may be due to the extreme temps of a BB car in Vegas though )

Another member on the boards has a GPW and the clear bra looks kind of yellowish.

These are older clear bras, I dont know if they have fixed the issues, but it made me decide not to get one

3M makes blue painters tape with varying levels of stickiness. None of which have left any residue on my car.

I get my 3M from Home Depot. I've used green and blue tape before. There's red too I think

Ill recommend either clear braing it or using the tape.

The green is less sticky and better in my opinion- at least when used for painting.

On a related note, I don't recall where I first saw this but here is what a car looks like completely covered in blue tape. It was for a road trip and although long, it's an interesting read.
