Body Kits...
Hi guys... New to this site... I just bought my S2K a couple months ago... Ok... maybe only about two months ago... It's been a blast and it's totally my dream car... minus a little power... Turbo kit is a little outta my touch...
I would like to know if anybody has installed a body kit on their S2K and what they thought of the C-West... I just purchased on out in California and have to figure out how to get it shipped in since the guy I bought it from won't help out with that...
I bought the car used, but it looks pretty good. I'm going to order a spoiler from the Honda website this weekend.
Haven't raced it yet, but the second weekend in September I'm due to meet some friends up in Denver for some 'playing' around...
Heard that it's not a good idea to lower the car any lower than it is though... One of my buddies has a super charger on his and takes his across country to race it...
Anyway... would be nice to hear from you...

If he is not willing to ship it. Then I won't buy it. As far as your racing goes save it for the track or strip. The law will catch up to you eventually. I would check out www.mptuningusa.com for some bodykit parts and also www.bulletproofautomotive.com for more bodykits. Also if you lower your s2k don't lower it more than an 1" or if you do make sure you have the correct offsets for your wheels and you may need to do some adjustments in the alignment.
Thanks for the tip... actually going to a drag strip in Denver... It's supposed to be much nicer than the one in Pueblo... I've never been there so we'll see... entry fee is double the Pueblo one so I've been avoiding it!
Does lowering the car improve the handling? Not that it needs much for improvement...
I'll hit that website this afternoon.

There is so many ways to go about lowering your car. I think in a sense you can improve the handling when you do lower the car with just springs. But if you want to improve handling in a major way I would get adjustable coilovers. Then you can do what ever you want to your liking. But the S will always be a great handling car as long as you put the best rubber on the car which is still the S02's and 3's. Wish I could afford them for my car.
depends on what you are looking to do with the car. body kits for the most part are just for looks. Dropping the car is for both performance and looks. You want a hot car that is both show and go get the kit. Authentic parts a big deal? Then get ready for a larger price tag and wait for delivery. There is a large market of replica pieces out. It really depends on what suits your tastes. My opinion on fitting of kits, is replica or authentic, you will have to adjust to fit your car regardless. I have owned both real and fakes of the same pieces and that's my experience.
If you have the money, go with coilovers when you change your suspension. springs alone is just fine, but with coilovers, you get what you pay for.

Coilovers...? brand name?
I'm still trying to decide what to do first... I'd like the body kit... but I'd hate to have a car that looks like it can do more than it can.
Talked to a couple guys on the forum yesterday and they recommended SCCA racing instead of drag strips. I've been to an SCCA sanctioned event in a huge parking lot with lots of cones set up... Didn't drive in it though... went with a buddy of mine because he was racing his Cobra R he just bought...
Thanks for the info...

If you purchase the Honda OEM spoiler or wing, check prices with www.hardtopguy.com and www.handaaccesories.com first! They offer the best prices and service.
Changing suspension on the car does depend on your goals, but it's really hard to improve on an already fantastic suspension. If you decide to do it, go with shocks and springs. Springs alone is not the best thing to do, and I've never been a fan of coilovers either.
Bodykits are personal preference. find something you like. I only have Honda OEM lip, side strakes and 04' spoiler. That's enough for me, as big body kits look cheesy/ricey to me and the S2K already looks fantastic.

Definitely pick a track over a drag strip. You'll get more enjoyment and use out of the car. What fun is it to drive just in a straight line? That's not the kind of car you bought

As far as having a car look like it can do more than it can, you aren't talking about a shabby car in the stock form here. So if you feel the urge for a kit, do it. My advice is to not do it on stock wheels...now that is a little iffy.
depending on your budget, I would mod like this
- cold air intake (unless you plan to go FI soon)
- drop, springs and shocks or coilovers
- either oem front lip and rear spoiler (unless going with aftermarket kit)
- wheels
- exhaust
- interior mods, steering wheel, shift knob, seats, etc.
- body kit if you want (or stick with OEM)
- audio system
- turbo or super charger (or stay NA)
- hardtop
- there are many small things you can get to accessorize the car.
You're right about my S2K being quite capable of handling it's own. It's a really really great car... I am bored with driving in a straight line. (as bored as a person can be driving an S...) I haven't taken it through any mountain passes here in Colorado yet, but I imagine that would be a beautiful drive... Maybe go to Bishops Castle....
I was thinking about doing the mods first... shipping details on the kit I purchased were supposed to be worked out between us and now I've found out that he won't ship it at all... kinda leaves me at a stand... so I've decided that was a sign from above and I'm not supposed to worry about the body kit... I should be putting more under the hood... silly me!!!!
I'll definitely go OEM on the spoiler... I found one 'excess' for $450 painted and shipped... good price?
