Default Body work advice

I figure this is s2k related to put it in here where stuff gets the most posts. Anyways, within a month or so, I'm trading in my 99 Prelude on an S.
My situation, I hit a gas pump guard after sliding on the ice and cracked my stock front bumper, needs a totally new replacement. Some body shops were quoting me 550 to get a new one and paint it. yeah right.

My question. Would it be a better idea to fix the bumper myself (found a guy who will paint for about 150, taking total cost to 300) and get more for a trade in, or just leave it with the paitn chipped and bumper cracked and save the 300 bones?

I hope you understand what I'm saying!

Whether to fix your cracked and chipped bumper on the Prelude depends on the condition of the rest of the car and the mileage. If you are nearing 70.000 miles or so, the dealer will only give you rough wholesale trade-in value, and the bumper probably won't make much difference. If you have a lower mileage car, and the rest of the car is nice with no previous body work.....then it's worth it to invest in a new bumper to make the car look great. That's my opinion.
