Default BORLA EXHAUST

I have always used borla in my past 3 cars and love them. The reason behind that is I HATE DRONING noise when cruising and borla seems to elimate that. Does anyone have a borla?

I also had been a fan of Borla...but it does not seem to be a popular choice for the S2k since it requires some welding.

Really that is the first time I have ever heard of Borla making you weld something. I will keep that in mind. Thanks

The Borla site doesn't mention anything about welding. In any case, it's kinda expensive IMO, $1K+ for a dual. Maybe you should consider custom w/Borla cans.

I've had the Borla exhaust for about 7 months now, and for 5 years on my other car. The experiences are quite similar. A smooth bassy tone that's a little louder, but not obnoxious, from idle to about 4500 RPM. It sounds closer to stock as the revs elevate from there. There is no drone, though you can invoke a little of it while decellerating in gear at lower RPMs. I do it on purpose 'cause it sounds nice.

The system comes with clamps, no welding is required. It was a bit difficult to get the install straight on this car. It clears the bumper, but the tips are not quite aligned. Maybe it's just me, but I spent a lot of time working it, and couldn't get it quite right. Other than that, I would say the only other drawback is that you don't get any weight savings.

Tell you what, if you enjoyed the Borla on your other cars, you probably will on this one too. If their exhaust is available on the next vehicle I own, I would do it again; and if not, I would do a custom job like mister x mentioned.

BTW, I have sound clips if you are interested.

I have a Borla on my 1993 Ford "Exploder" and I have always enjoyed the mellow exhaust note and the occassional looks that I get when I shift my five speed four door Exploder XLT (one of only two that I have ever seen).

Back in the 90's Borla claimed that unless they could get a minimum of a ten percent increase in performance in a cat back system they would NOT market a product.

Back in 2003 after I bought my S, Borla did not market a cat back system. About a month ago I see that they now have one. But, when I e-mailed them to ask what type of increase that I could expect the response was from a 5 - 7 % increase.

They never anwered my request to answer where that increas takes place? Is it at the top end or in the mid-range. I would not want to have a performance decrease in the 3 to 5 K RPM range where is where I "live" most of the time.

Anyone have any thoughts especiallly interested in the sound clips if you would be kind enough to PM me for my e-mail address if required.

Borla is not in that class in terms of materials and workmanship. No style points either.
