Brake dust..
a bit of both...
do you let the engine break the car? (dont put the clutch in as you slow down)-
you will get more dust than normal until the pads seat (are broken in).
i just bought a new odyssey (big brakes!) and had more dust than normal for the first 1,000 miles and i do use engine braking as much as possible. just about no brake dust now.
if you want tips to help this, post up in the wash and wax forum!
(btw, welcome to the car and the boards!!)

Yeah, the fronts dust like a MoFo, at least mine do-- I have an AP2 as well. Keep after it and it will wash right off. I understand that if you wax the wheels with a synthetic (carnuba will melt off when the wheels get hot) that it cleans even easier.
I had a BMW300CI a few years back, and let me tell you. The brake dust from a S2000 is like snow in AZ, compared to a Blizzard in CO (the BMW). I couldn't drive more then 5 minutes with clean wheels.
But the S2000 drives and feels like that BMW should have.

Normal........ clean it... don't let it sit. Depending on what type of rims you have or end up buying....brake dust that is left on too long will pit your wheels and eat through polished lips.
Additionally make sure you use A LOT of water and Soap (car wash safe) when you wash them.... DO NOT take a towel and wipe them. You will scratch your wheels!!
