There is a lot of misinformation here. I have had the bra on and off of my car a ton. I use the bra very frequently and have never gotten so much as a mark in my paint. In fact my 2001 hasn't so much as 1 rock chip in the front bumper. Now you do have to be careful putting it on and taking it off but it is well worth not having you car look like someone sandblasted the front of your car. While the clear bra is ok it does not protect things like the very egde of the hood and makes the paint look a little differently colored where you put it on. Also at 1/4 the cost i think it's the best option.
If you want to keep the colgan bra from marring your paint you must keep it clean (which really isnt hard. First when it comes off of the car it gets hung up by its straps on the end of my garage door so that it does not touch the ground. I then take a stiff brush and knock any sand or debris that has gotten in the wool like material on the back (the debris really only gets on a few of the edges). I have been 100% satisfied with the colgan bra and reccomend it to anyone who doesn't want the front of their car peppered with rock chips etc.
Many people 2 years ago gave me the same kind of cautions as seen above but when seeing their cars again in person each year at 2 succesive dragon runs my paint on the front bumper seems to be the only one that doesn't look like its been hit with a sandblaster.

I agree with ccarnel, if you are a typical owner who keeps a clean car, you'll be OK with a regular bra, as long as you clean it when you clean your car and keep a good coat of wax. Most people who have had problems with rub lines don't keep their cars or bras clean enough, allowing the dirt to sit and eventually scratch into the paint, or they bought crap bra's. I've had a bra in the past on another car and it worked fine.

Either method, clear or regular should work. It's all about preference.

I put a bra on my car on Sunday night because I commute on 2 highways that usually have alot of trucks. I then take if off on Friday evening.

Since I keep the car clean and it isn't driven when the weather is bad I have not had any problems with lines or scratches, but I can say that I do not have one chip from road debirs (my car is now 3 years old).

Including yours.
Sorry woodson but of all the clear bra's i've seen on the car (more than 6-7 seperate cases), every single one did not wrap around the edges. I'm not saying that there aren't kits that do wrap around, but i've yet to see any on the car.
As i've installed a few pieces of the clear bra on my own car on the sides, the material does not like to wrap around edges and i would imagine it might have the tendencey to peel up at those spots (though i could be wrong)

Oh and yeah that's me 'peeing' on my own car right next to funsdead at the dragon run.

I use my Bra at track days and long trips and I love it!
I do however take it off it looks like rain or on weekends and am very careful not to put it on a dirty car!

Nzaizar raises a point. The Bra comes off in the rain. Eventually, I plan on making my S2K a daily driver. That means rain, snow, traffic, and everything else. I don't have any experience with Colgan-type bras, but I suspect that you wouldn't want to drive it around a big city during or after a snowstorm, with road salt, slush and sand kicking up with the bra on. And that's when you need the protection the most (Yes, I have a set of snow tires on a spare set of wheels).

So are you suggesting that a conventional bra is good for all-weather traffic?

I've used the Colgan bra for a couple of years now. In addition, I had a bra on my '84 RX7 and for the four years I owned it, the front was blemish free and I had no rub marks. The S2000 has been the same. Since I had one of the early Colgan bras, the first one balooned around the headlights at speed. Colgan changed the design and replaced it with the current one. I also only use it when I have to, but it gives me peace of mind.

I think the clear bra is a preference deal. I just don't want to stick something on my paint and I'll put up with the less than esthetic Colgan and take it off when I don't need it.
