Default Break in

Hi All,

I bought a new MY02 and did not follow the break in procedure. The thing is my cousin had one and I drove his a lot until I could afford to get mine. When I got mine, I drove it like I drove his, reasonably hard. I did not read the owners manuel because I thought I was already familiar with the car (big mistake).

So I was wondering if there may be some long term damage done to the engine that I should look for in the future. I only have 17,xxx miles on it so I'm guessing its going to be a long time before I see any problems, but I just got a CTSC and I'm gonna be driving it alot more .

Any feedback would help,

Thanks

There has been a long debate over the proper way to break in your car... breaking it in hard vs. breaking it in soft. People in each camp swear by their methods. There are plenty of people that started driving their cars hard right away and haven't experienced any long term problems because of it, so if I were you I wouldn't worry.

Of course, in my opinion, following the manual is the best way to break the car in, but it's a little too late for you to do that.

It will look for you.
If it is able to find you in a Honda
Keep your eye (even closer as you allready should) on oil consumption.
