Too busy to read the manual? But you took the time to sign up to these forums and post a question? That's like saying you're too busy to use the search feature. I don't buy it. Good luck with the new car.

Just finding the manual is a step in the right direction considering how well it is hidden. Mine was purchaced just over 3 weeks ago, and I'm at 1300 miles. VTEC was certainly worth the wait.
BTW you'll also want to locate the fuel door release now, before your first trip to the Gas Station.

350 miles on car and I've had for 2 weeks. I'm lovin' it and havent felt anything over 4.5k rpm
patiently waiting for VTEC

Dealer told me to keep breakin oil in the car for 5000 miles - which I will do regardless of maintenance minder. I was then planning to go synthetic - but you guys are saying to hold off on synthetic until after 7500 miles?

It was either quickly post a thread while typing a paper on the computer, or go out in the rain to the garage I have at my apartment complex that is 500' away where I

Hey,

I got mine on saturday too. If you were too lazy to read, the manual says keep under 5500 RPM, i thought it was rather high. I shift around 3000. Break in period is 1000 miles.
That must be quite a challenge to shift at 3k. Our cars dont develop much of anything by then.

5500 is not high for our engines.

To each their own.

Little does he know, he's probably lugging the engine on certain scenarios. That can be far more damaging than taking it over the recommended rpm during break-in. Those poor main bearings are taking such a beating.

I have 420 miles, and I have taken it past 5500 once, just because well, I couldn't resist. Other than that, I've driven under 5500.

During break-in I wouldn't be bouncing off the rev limiter, but 3000rpm??? Jeez, live a little!
