Default Break In Period and Oil Consumption

I am just curious as to everyones' oil consumption for the break in period of 600miles or 1000kms. I've just passed that mark and was down XXX.

Just over 2000 miles and at XXX (measured when hot). But noticed one notch gone in a matter of few days even though I don't VTEC much and still babying my car. I guess S2000 does have a big appetite for oil?

Also, I would think measuring the oil level when hot should give a more "accurate" indication of what's going on inside the engine as opposed to measuring it the first thing in the morning when the engine is cold?

My S2000 has about 2200km on it an I am down about XXX on it. I think it is better to measure the oil level cold. This way all the oil is the in pan not all over the engine so you get a more accurate reading. Tranny fluid should be measured hot.

BTW...does anyone know how much a single X translates to? Is 1 X = 1/4 litre or quart?

Always check oil when the engine's cold, preferably before the first start of the day. The total area within all the X's = 1 liter so divide by the X's to find out how much 1 X is.

I'm up to about 1,100 miles (1,770km) and my car when checked cold is down about 1 X. My breakin was mild and no VTEC until over the specified 600 miles. I have run the car for long periods of time as opposed to lots of short trips and I'm VTECing on a regular basis now. I have been very pleased.

I have just under 3 thousand miles on my car now and it has used about a 1/3rd of a quart most of which was in the first thousand miles. It doesn't seem to be using any now.

My S2000 burned lots of oil until about 5500 miles. Every time I have checked since then, it hasn't moved from the top H

I still check every time I fill up the gas tank though, just in case.

Went down 2 "X"s in about 850 miles. Hit VTEC almost a dozen times since after the 600 mile mark. Still checking the oil at every fuel fill-up.

OK, I checked this morning (when it was COLD) twice. And it's down to only 1 notch above L ! I guess that means I have to fill it up? But with which oil? Honda has a special "break in" oil, correct? Should I be using this or "regular" engine oil from Honda? Any tips on How-to of filling in the engine oil (I'm afraid of overfilling)? Or should I leave it to a Honda tech? Thanks in advance.
