Default breaking in the car but what if?

hey im at almost 600 miles right now, the other day i was driving and i thought it had it in 4th and slipped it back into 2nd, and the rev wnet up past 5000 is it that harmful to the car? its just one isolated incident but i was wondering if there will be long term effects if this happens more... also the salesman at the dealership didn't know shit about hte break in, but is break in done after 1000? cuz i heard somethign about 500 additional miles to start vtecing hard. (vtecing haha)

Your car will be just fine. Also break-in is 600 miles, so after that go nuts.

man it never ceases to amaze me that people will spend 32 grand on a car and not read the owners manual. Break-in is 600 miles! I wouldn't cruise on the highway in 3rd gear after that, but VTEC it every once in a while. I'm at 300 miles right now and figure i'll wait till 600 to feel VTEC but wait till 1000 to really go nuts with it.

i did read the manual but i was pretty sure it said 1000

I v-tec'ed out of the dealer lot. Maybe thats why my engine smells like its gonna blow up and I only have 5300 miles.

with about 420 miles i had to pass a car to take the cutoff and vtec'd it. after that i looked at my friend and we were both smiling really big. after that point i pretty much started going crazy in this car.

I V-tec'ed mine a few times during break-in also... So what? Its a damn Honda! Relax, it will be fine.

That was 1000 kilometers which is equivalent to about 600 miles. Have fun!

i dont see the differnet of breakin it in or not unles ur goin to own it for let say 7 yrs cause the break in is for the oil and lub to go aroudn all teh piston and everythin so tat it wont blow i redlined my car after it was at 300 miles
drivin far at slow speed isnt fun (SACTOWN)
