Breaking in an S2000 is like....
I was thinking about this during our break in period... as I was driving around this amazing sports car only using 25% of it's potential. Flirting with VTEC. Getting a stronger and stronger urge to redline with every mile I drove. And all at once, it came to me...
Breaking in an S2000 is like foreplay with a supermodel... It's a wonderful experience, but soon get the urge to do more! But something is keeping you from it. It's an amazing experience once she gives you the go-ahead, though.
On a more serious note, the break-in recommendations are just that... recommendations. There isn't some magic occurrence that happens at 600 miles that suddenly makes it OK to redline. Chances are it's just fine to redline the car at 500, or even 400 miles. Some people have varied the revs enough to start opening your car up sooner. Also, if you don't plan to keep your car forever, don't worry about it as much. Just because you pop the limiter a couple times before 600 doesn't mean your fenders will fall off the car and lightning will strike you down. Just be smart about it!
