Hello all. First of all, I just want to say that this is a great site, and thanks to s2ki for all the information provided about the car. I should be getting my new s2000 very soon, and I hear that one must "break in" the car before driving it like it was meant to be driven. Could someone please tell me how I should go about doing this? Thanks.
I'm betting that Pleasanton has beat out Scott's Valley for the most S2000's per capita in the Bay Area, once you get yours.
Just keep the engine under 6000 rpms for the first 600 miles. They break in better on mountain roads, so I would suggest driving up Mt. Diablo when you first get it, then go find Calaveras Road, Palomares Road, and Redwood Road. Be sure to let the car cool off between runs. Once you have a couple of hundred miles on it, run it up Mines Road to the junction, then on to Mt. Hamilton. That plus whatever daily driving you put on it should get it to about 600 miles, then rev to 9000 rpms and enjoy.
To get in touch with other Bay Area S2000 owners, go to the Clubs section and click on Bay Area S2000 Owners. There are quite a few local activities going on and we would love to have you come join us.
thanks to all who replied. sadly, the s2k i was trying to purchase was marked up in the last week, and it is beyond a reasonable price range. now i'm wondering if anyone knows where to find a decent priced s2k online. i've been looking on ebay motors, and that seems to be my best bet right now. any help would be appreciated.
