I just saw this "first test" of the new Integra Type R at this address:

http://www.drive.com.au/news/default.asp?s...news/news2.html

What really gets me is this bit -

" The already good brakes have been replaced by bigger - and lighter - four-piston Brembos, with Italian-made Ferodo fade resistant brake pads. Cooling ducts channel in air from the bumper. Tyres are 17-inch Bridgestone Potenzas.

The new engine's power is up 15kW to 162kW at a top-note 8,000rpm, the real power starting at 6,000rpm. Torque is 206Nm (up 20Nm) at 7,000rpm, and the claimed quarter mile time (400m) is 14.3secs."

Why is the s2000 given cheap a** brakes and 16" wheels and yet the Integra gets the goodies quoted above. Also an VTEC-i 2lt to replace the old 1.8lt.

Don't get me wrong the S2000 brakes are "good" but when you look at what else is around it makes you go mmmmmmmmmm. As for 16" wheels, well I thought that they were cool as standard equipement on my Supra turbo - BACK IN '89!

Love my S2000 but I think we only paid for the R&D on the engine and gearbox - we missed better brakes, alloy suspension arms, bigger wheels/tyres, lower weight (cause it equals more $$$$$).

Thanx guys

Looks like accord or civic front to it. I liked the previous front end. All I can say is we got jipped out of 17's LOL

It also stated the car is a prototype and will have changes before production...I wouldn't be surprised if they went to different brakes and 16's.

don't get too hung up on larger wheels - larger wheels (everything else being equal) increase unsprung weight (which negatively affects handling, braking and acceleration).

The benefit is that you get a larger space to stuff larger brakes into (which are normally heavier - everything else being equal). The new JDM ITR's brakes being brembos are lighter, though.

Who knows, maybe we'll get an S2000 Type R down the road sometime with 17" wheels and Brembo front brakes also.
