Keep in mind that the tire you're reading about, the S02 Pole Position, is not the stock S2000 tire. That S02 is only Z rated, the S2000 tire is W rated. The S2000 OEM S02 is better in the dry and worse in the rain than the Pole Position. The Pole Position has Bridgstone's Uni-T technology, the OEM S02 does not.

Still, as Pinky said the stock S02 does perform well in the wet, when it's not worn out.

as has been suggested (thanks Barry) you should do a search on this board to get the full data before jumping to conclusions.

some threads that would be relevant that you would find in this search would include this and this and this and this.

the simple reality is that the S2000 is NOT a car designed for daily driving nor is it a car designed for driving in inclement weather. don't confuse the fact that it is made by Honda for meaning that it is a simple, practical car that happens to be sporty. it's a sports car designed to be as much like a track car as possible that just happens to be made by Honda.

given what this car is designed to be - the S02s are a nearly optimal match (again, if you do a search you'll find a million examples of people deciding to stay with these tires as opposed to switching). the one change people tend to make is going with snow tires if they live somewhere with winter.

perhaps this car is not for you? given the weather where you are (where is that exactly?) perhaps the S4 would be a better choice?

Malachi,

That was very well put and perhaps one of the best descriptions of the capabilities of this car that I have read.

However, I might suggest that Howie just put some different more broadly scoped tires on his car.

Fact is that it rains in many places and cold in many places most of the year. I can't possibly believe that people don't drive the S2K there. I mean people do get the hard top b/c of the rain right? Now driving in the snow is one thing but not being able to drive in the rain and when it's cold?

Howie,

The S2K doesn't come with Pole Positions. It comes with Honda OEM S02 89W and 92W. The Pole Positions are actually tires Bridgestone came out with to IMPROVE on the original S02's poor wet characteristics. Therefore, this thread has no basis for discussion related to the S2K. Moderators please close this poorly researched thread. Also Howie, if you're so concerned about this please DON'T buy an S2K. As I said in your earlier thread you don't deserve the car. It deserves a better owner than you.

I'm sorry if I care about my safety and the safety of my cars more than you do.

Strike, if I don't deserve an S2K neither do you. Why are you acting like a Bitch anyways? This is an S2K board that isn't just for people who know everything about the S2K. So they're different tires thankyou for telling me. But why mouth off on me again? You've seriously got some issues.

Btw. I'm researching before I become an owner. Now I have no idea why you see something wrong in that. Maybe you've just got issues.

Howie,

I'm not the first person in this thread to point out that the tires you're asking about are NOT the ones Honda gives us with our cars. Someone did that much closer to the top of the thread. AFTER their post you still chose to comment on how you should be able to drive in the rain. It was obvious that you had either ignored or not comprehended their statement that the tires you were asking about were NOT the Honda OEM tires. Additionally, I'm going to take this opportunity to point out that although I've been tempted to call you an idiot, a dumbass (actually types that one and then deleted it), or any number of other choice names I've tried to be civil and not get too personal with you on your STUPID threads. However, in the last five minutes, you've called me both an idiot AND a bitch, and you've suggested that I don't deserve to own this car when by reading your posts it's much more apparent that YOU don't. So to heck with civility. You're a dumbass. I've yet to read an intelligent thread from you. You need everyone else to make up your mind for you about whether you should own this car. You take every post that says there's a problem with this car as fact. You don't even deserve your Prelude. You should own a KIA. Try doing a search next time before you ask stupid questions.

No I did not ignore what Mikey told me. In fact I wouldn't consider your post intelligent when all you said was repeat what Mikey said. After Mikey's post I understood that it was different. But that's not my point. My point is that people are buying S2Ks in England, where I live, and other places that are cold and rains and I was just wondering how they deal with it.

Second of all, I name-calling really doesn't do you any justice. Oh and commenting on my vocab isn't exactly personal?

Whatever. I just don't see why you have to make such comments about me. If you don't like my posts don't read them. If you have to be bitchy I have the right to respond back. I told you I didn't appreciate you judging me without knowing how much I care about my cars. I think most people agree that it's better to learn about the car before buying rather than buying it and then learning about the car.

I never consider my posts to be intelligent and I hope you don't consider yours to be intelligent. Seriously. What is your problem?
