Modifry and other electronic geniuses:

One thing I've found to be cool about my Audi is that the dash brightness is linked to some sort of photo electric sensor. Has anyone thought about rigging a sensor as the dash brightness input rather than the +/- buttons?

stirring the thread up again

Does anyone know offhand what bulb are behind the digital dash and if a brighter and "whiter" bulb can be used to replace the stock ones? When I had the thing apart, I noticed the bulbs aren't really that bright, and are quite yellow in color. I have Randy's filter kit, and like the red quite a bit, but I think I'm going to piece together my own filter colors, I'm going for a more orangy red and am hoping to seperate the colors (so warning colors are bright, etc etc.)

I'm not sure about about w1ngman's, but my filters I got from Randy. Do a search for Randy+blue+gauge+filters. Takes less time than posting a reply and should show up as a Group Buy for a filter kit. Or you can PM Randy, and he'll let you know what he needs from you. I have red, and am very happy with it, but as I stated above I'd like to make some modifactions to it to seperate the colors for different bits part (hot and cold, for temp, etc....) I hear the blue is not as bright as the orange or red, but I haven't installed it to see it yet. That's one reason I was hoping to find brighter and whiter bulbs for the dash.....

I installed the blue on mine, and it turns white in direct sunlight, though you can still see what your speed is, but hey, a digital dash isn't perfect?

The blue is awesome in the dark, and matches my Pioneer stereo.
