I called the dealership to ask if they had inspected all the other related parts around the final gear set and differential to see if anything else was damaged. They reported that everything was damaged. <trying to keep from crying> Although the Kaaz itself is not destroyed, it has some major scoring on the outside casing, and the differential assembly as a whole has metal shavings throughout, this is more of the concern. So, <deep breath> here we go again. Assuming the Kaaz is still good, and knowing that I'm going with a J's gear, the cost of the other parts needed from my local dealershp is $437.80 (yes, I have a list for those interested). From Majestic Honda online, it's $267.26...not too bad...as long as that Kaaz is OK. I am trying to get a hold of Kaaz (timezone difference) this morning to discuss with them the differential and their thoughts / concerns.
I should be able to order the J's gear later this week (after payday). That's only step one of the process, but it's a start.

I got ahold of Kaaz. They think the differential should be in good shape, but recommend taking it apart and cleaning it. They have offered me a great deal for them to do this dissassembly / cleaning, so I'm going to ship the differential to them - better safe then sorry.

I spoke with a local performance shop that can rebuild the differential with all of the new parts. They quoted me $350, but I hope to talk them down some when the time actually comes. Right now I'm thinking it will be December before I can get everything together.

To Do List

Good luck Wes. Looks like there's going to be a long downtime for your car.

Wes:
You need a 2nd S2K. One for the shop and one to drive daily(an NA car of course) Guess staying NA does have its advantages.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles buddie!

The new J's gear set w/ bolts, Comptech bearing caps w/ bolts, and the complete differential housing are on their way back from being cryogenically treated. This was the last step before installation. I need to buy some random parts, but I'm almost done.

No priest. But, this is the last straw for my rear end. If this fails then I'm gonna get an RX7 rear end.

Good deal. It is nice to see you at the end on your "To-Do" list. Any ETA on when you will be driving it again?
