Default Build your ultimate S2000

The one million and first AP1 vs AP2 thread currently on S2000 Talk got me thinking about something that might be fun, and that I don't think I've seen before.

What would be your ultimate compilation of S2000 factory parts (from anywhere in the world). Notice I said 'your' and not 'the' so there is no right answer. I'll start.

Base: 2009 GPW S2000 CR

Changes:
F20C w/ upgraded retainers
AP1 Flywheel
AP1 Clutch Slave Cylinder (no cdv)
2 Rear CR wheels bored to replace the front wheels
MY2004 Rear Sway Bar - to help balance the wider front tires
Japanese Double Din System

I think that's all

Sure, if all the parts came out of a Honda factory (which I don't think they do) OEM only. This should be like if you were Honda, and you had to build one 'ultimate' S2000 from all the parts laying around the factory, which would you pick. Also no HPD parts (not that there are many for our car).

If you could go balls to the walls with only OEM S2000 parts. I would need access to the Honda parts bin.

Base: 2000 AP1 BB

Changes:

CR Radio Door
F22c Bottom end, F20c top end and ECU
...(Since no two parts produced are exactly the same)...
OEM connecting rods matched length as close as possible to each other
OEM pistons with matched weight and dimensions
Machine shop balanced oem crank
AP2 Spring retainers.

I kind of already built it.

It's an AP1 version of the S2000 Ultimate Edition. I like the AP1's because they're over 100lbs lighter than the AP2 and even lighter than the CR (my car weighs in at 2733lbs with 1/2 tank of gas). Also, I like the AP1 rear end and lights better though I like the AP2 front end.

Anywho, here's the way my car is set up:

2001 AP1. GPW w/Red (Honda's racing colors)
2008 CR Wheels
Facotry hardtop in GPW.

The "100% OEM" stipulation makes this difficult and I believe it will skew the results heavily toward the F20C motor. I would take an F22C without a doubt if I could toss in a custom tune. In any case--

Base:

2009 S2000 in Grand Prix White or Laguna Blue Pearl (not a CR--soft top is absolutely required for me)

Changes:

F20C with upgraded retainers and 2002.5+ oiling updates (banjo bolts I believe? Not too familiar but I know the change happened in mid-2002 model year)

-> OR F22C with a solid Gernby custom tune to expand VTEC range and increase redline to 8500. Technically this is still all stock parts, just with different 1s and 0s written to the ECU's flash memory

-> If the tuned F22 were allowed I would also toss in a non-US gauge cluster from 2006+ to allow the tachometer to display up to 9000 before it does the annoying red flashing that the US clusters start to do at 8000

AP1 flywheel

AP1 slave cylinder

2004-2005 wheels (if they can be bored like you said--which is technically a modification--then put rears all around to allow for wider front tires)

Complete CR suspension components (shocks, springs, tire sizes, sway bars...everything)

CR flat tire kit which effectively eliminates the spare tire for weight savings

Black OEM hard top and associated mounting hardware for colder months; it would sit in the garage from March through November

That should just about do it. I am not familiar with some of the lesser-known non-USA components so I may be missing other small things. If there was ever a better stereo (both the head unit and speakers) put into any S2000s from the factory I'd take all of that stuff too. Stock one is a disgrace.

Thanks guys, love the responses so far. Yeah, the 100% OEM does make it tough, but that's what I wanted. Granted I probably violated that with boring out the wheels. I just didn't want it to turn into a 'what is every aftermarket part you can think of' thread. The goal is really 'I like characteristic X about this model S2000, but I really wish it could be combined with characteristic Y of this S2000'.

'01 S2000
'02+ roof w/ glass window
AP2 rear subframe
F22C engine ('00/'01 ECU)
AP1 flywheel, clutch, trans
Stiffest springs/sways dampers
for track: '08/'09 wheels, preferably 8.5 all around, but would require minor mods up front (3mm spacer or machining wheel to fit)
for street: AP1 wheels

When I opened the thread, I was thinking it was going to be some kind of program that let you build your dream S2000 in your browser...

I always loved the games that let you customize cars and then print them out.
