Bummed out
So today i found an S2k went to look at it, and the guy wanted 8000 for an 01 s2k salvage title with 87k miles. Engine was in incredible shape, everything looked quite clean. But both me and my farther weren't to thrilled t find that the airbag in the passenger seat had not been replaced. Offering 6500 didn't work, honestly im just tired looking at cars and getting no where. I don't know what i should do, should i ask if he would do 7000-7500. Any help would be appreciated, i haven't been feeling well all month; so maybe some advice would cheer me up.
Oh my budget is only 9000, i would probably have one by now if it was higher.

I bought my 00' S2000 for 8,500$ with 70k miles. the sales tax on it was 780$ along with the 300$ in registration fees (delinquent from previous owner. which he bought) then 250$ for front tires and an oil change. I was around 9.5k into it before i got on the road <_<
You could get an 00-01 AP1 for 9k easy. I wouldn't get an S2K though if my budget was only 9k.
At the end of the day though, it's a Honda. These things last forever, I have heard of 2 S2000's still running at over 300k miles.

Stay patient and don't bother with a questionable salvage car. $9k should get a decent S2000. If you settle on a so-so car chances are you'll end up with more frustration from dealing with its problems then you are experiencing right now with the search. A good car is worth the time and energy on the back end.
Be Patient.
Choosing a budget is key- it helps narrow your search considerably. It took me nearly a year to find the right car (03 AP1), with low miles (34K), no winters, in my budget (15K)- that was 2 years ago.
Don't be afraid of ebay and look for those no reserve auctions.
Agreed, no salvage titles because of body/frame damage.
good luck and as i said, BE PATIENT.
