They wanted to charge you $500 for painting plus another $500 for molding it??? Geez. Talk to Schatten; I believe he said you can get the J's lip prepainted for an extra $50 or something cheap like that.

Just had mine painted. Great job for $175. Molding will cost you $4-500. You have to be careful because I hear the molding can break apart easy since you are molding fibergall to poly. Oh heck, if you hit anything, that lip will shatter.

Geez, that sounds like a hell of a lot of money and work just to get rid of the little line from mounting it separately. Quite honestly, I prefer the looks of the J's when it's not molded. To each his own I guess.

I paid $50 to have mine painted. BTW that lip is stronger then folks think. I've hit a couple of parking blocks, a few speed bumps, and inclined driveways. Not even a tiny crack anywhere. Of course I don't recommend you go out and try it but I was pleasantly surprised.
