and after you clay, give it an extra coat of a thicker wax... i'm in the same boat as well.. the soot is accumulating..

I don't have a test pipe and my car does it with a single exhaust.......It's just a carbon deposit....

On a related topic, seeing as how these test pipes completely replace the cat... does a car w/ a pipe emit more pollutants to the point where it can be seen? especially under hard acceleration?

Oh yeaaaaa. When I VTEC and shift at redline there is a huge plume of smoke behind me when I gas it again. Kinda cool kinda not.

Yes the test pipe may be playing a factor... However I have been getting bumper melt before I installed my test pipe....normally after long drives (long being 10+ strait hour drives)
