Default Burning oil at 14500miles??

I have had my 02' s2000 for about a month(ive driven the car less then 1000 miles) and have gone through over a qt of oil. I know there are tons of threads about this but ran a few searches and found nothing. i dont think this is normal as the car has 14500 miles on it. should i take this to the dealer asap, or wait on it (im going to probally change the oil today anyways mobile 1 syn 10w30). any insight would be a big help. thanks.

run more/better searches, this has been hashed and re-hashed more than a hippi in Amsterdam

Its pretty normal. just be sure to check it every time you gas up

Try a 10w40 mineral oil like MaxLife or a 5w40 Synoil like Delvac1 or Amsoil European fomula and see how they perform for you. Mobil1 formulates on the low side of 30 weight specs to begin with, and is only mid-pack in performance in high temp/ high shear and volatility, so that is that.

Older S2000's both seem to sometimes "consume" oil, and some oils are more easily consumed (like m1). I would like to see a UOA for your car. If the oil is shearing down, your bearings may be at risk, and higher levels of lead will show up in the analysis. Given the age of your car, there could also be wear in the areas where "high mileage" oils help.

a quart per 1000 miles may be normal for your car, your driving style, and your oil.

I go through a quart between every oil change. It's normal! Like the manual says check you oil everytime you fill up this engine typically consumes oil.

Alternatively, just don't fill it up when it gets low. It'll stop using up oil after about 5 quarts or so
