One of my friends drives an '03 and let our silly friend Dave drive it. Well after a good 15 minute session of riding the clutch like the Matahorn, it stunk pretty good. Unfortunately, the smell still isnt gone and seems to reappear every time the car is driven. It's been about 4 days now and the burning smell still occurs, any ideas?

 

it could be the tar on the bottom of the car. might not be the clutch? how new is it still?

 

how rough was he on the clutch? maybe he just completely glazed the clutch... i think that would leave a smell for a while.

 

It's got about 10,000 miles on it

 

It smelled pretty bad afterwords, I would imagine he rode it pretty hard.

 

probably glazed the clutch. drive it for like another week and the smell should go away. do you notice that your clutch pedal seems to "hop" near the end when you relase it during first gear? ^_^
