Hey guys,

I need some help here. I smell a bad burnt smelling everytime I drive the car for the past 2 days. I am not sure what the smell of the car is. I've been reading the forums about burnt smells and people have said that it is the clutch. I bought my 01' car used for about 9 months ago and this have never happened. I do not drive my car hard and rarely rev very high. I also heard that these cars have a bad clutch. So I am not really sure whats the problem. Can anyone give me any advice as to what the problem is? And does the warranty cover this problem? Or might it be any other problem? Your info will be very helpful. Thanks.

p.s. I bought the car at 18000 miles and now it is at 24000.

Thanks for the info. I usually rev high when there are other cars are racing with me and when I am going up the mountain trails, but besides that, I dont rev high on traffic or city areas

Did you get the oil changed recently ? If oil gets on the outside of the block it'll take a few days to burn off.

It may be something as simple as a plastic bag that you may have ran over and got stuck to your hot cat or exhuast. My wife had that happen once and it lasted a while.

IMO these cars do not have a bad clutch whatsoever. Actually I think s2000's have very forgiving clutches for those who don't drive standard that well. Not that I'm implying you don't. But I would get it serviced

I got an oil change a month ago and I dont see no plastic bags under the car. Whenever I just warm up the car, it smells fine. But after driving around for a while and coming out of the car, it smells. So I think it might be the clutch. However, I am still taking advice and dont want to jump to conclusion. But thanks for the info.

I just encountered a clutch problem too. Im an experienced standard driver and I tried to do a burn out. I poped the clutch in first gear but the wheels didnt spin. It felt like the car was in neutral, but it wasn't. After that incident, I smelt a awful smell. I thought I fried some electric circuits. Yah, it smelt like elctric circuits thats fried but im sure that wasnt it. Now my clutch doesnt grab good and it requires alot of play for the clutch to engage with the gear. Should I get it warrented or get a racing clutch??
