Question Buy or not buy?

Have an opportunity to buy a 05' GPW S2000, tan interior. One owner, non-abused & 100% bone stock (still on stock tires) with ~14.8k miles for $30k.

Don't have a garage. Would need to get a beater for daily driving as well. Buy or not buy? Good deal or pass?

Those GPWs seem to be the color to get...I'd buy a cheaper S2000 myself. That is a deal though.

Wow 14k miles. Garage a must if u want to keep it prestine. Not sure where you live beater for snow is a good idea.

These cars can't carry much so daily is possible. But travel light.

You don't have a garage. Don't waste your money buying such a pristine example.

I think it's a good deal for what it is. Sucks to not garage it and I'm not sure it's worth it as a driver but what's the alternative? The alternative is paying 22k+ for one with <60k miles and that'll be hard to do. It's hard to get any clean s2k for < $18k so 30k for a super low mileage, GPW car isn't really bad, even to drive.

Bottom line is that you're looking at a really desirable S2k but it sounds like it might not line up with where you're at in life. Don't let people make you feel bad for "ruining" a 15k mile model if that's the hesitation. Awesome to get a nearly new 15 y/o car at this point.

I've had a s2k for 5 years without having my own garage. Mine has been garaged through winters here though. I definitely value keeping it out of the salt and weather as much as possible but it's a car. If you can afford it and a beater, without putting a damper on your life, go for it. You probably won't find another opportunity to buy one at 15k miles.

The car isn't driveable with the original tires. Not safe so figure on replacing those immediately. There's a learning curve with RWD cars as they handle much differently than the typical Civic or other FWD car.

No garage for a car approaching collector condition makes no sense to me, as does having such a car as my only car. Much of the value in this car is the low miles. That will plummet if you make it a daily or park it outdoors all the time. Good chance it'll get stolen parked in a non-secure location.

You would cringe every time you had to see it parked outside and facing the horrors that a daily driven car faces from road debris, people, etc.

Rent a storage unit & buy a beater. If you're not able to do that on top of the expense you're already planning for this car, pass.
