Default Buy Used or New????

Everyone, I took a test drive yesterday and I'm at a loss of words! This car is simply amazing!! My problem is that I test drove a used S2000 (2001 with 20k Miles). The car is honda certified with a 7 year 100k mile warranty. The salesman wouldn't say how much for the car, but hinted at $30k. Should I get this car with the great warranty (and financing), or order a new one and pay a little more?? Thanks for your help!

if he is asking $30K I would shell out a few more thousand to get a 03. At least by getting a new one you know what has been done to the car and how well is has been maintain.

Consider all of the changes for MY 2002 and up (glass rear window, defroster, center console cover, etc.). Plus, its unknown how that car has been treated by its previous owner. For me, buying new was a no-brainer.

I'd recommend getting a '02 or newer for the glass rear window.

If you want to save money and get a used car, you should be able to find low mileage (< 10k) '02 models for around $28k. Try autotrader.com.

I bought used, and got a great deal. I can look past the glass window for a lower price, and 2000-2001s are going really cheap now.

Just purchased an 02, certified used from Dealer, 3k miles, $29300. Has rear spoiler.

I was concerned about prior owner. This one was a trade in. Dealer put me in contact with prior owner.

02 and up is the way to go if you can.

Your dealer seems over priced

I just bought an '01 for $26.5K with 3.5K miles on it! I wanted a Sivlerstone/Red with less than 5K miles. I'm going to have it as a second, fun mobile. Also, I live in San Diego and the top will be down most of the time, so the glass back window is not an issue for me. I found it on autotrader.com.......I'm having it shipped from Massachusetts as well! I had it shipped to San Diego enclosed for $1,575.00 with Intercity Lines (quality shipping company). It's worth the safety of shipping enclosed!! the previous owner has added a Neuspeed exhaust ($1,000), upgraded Kenwood door speakers from Lucid, VooDoo Shift nob, and an added Rick's console leather cover as well! It's in great condition!

So, I think that you can find a good deal out there for a used S2K! In California, they are asking for an '03 for MSRP plus...($32-33K plus tax and license....total of $35-36K). My total output will be approx. $30K after all said and done (I have to pay for tax and license....tax is 7.75% of $26.5K).

The car will be here in about a week.....I can't wait....the weather here has been awesome!

What works for me, may not for you! Have a great Friday and weekend!

Good luck!
