buying a 2k4 s2k
i'm planning on purchasing a 2k4 s2k on december 20th.
i live in bay area, california and have a few honda dealers in a few mile radius, however i was wondering, if i wanted to leave the dealership on the day of dec 20th, i wanted to know how much before i would have to "reserve" (as some people have been doing) or leave a deposit, and how much i would have to deposit. thanks for any info you guys can give me, btw is the msrp for the 2004 s2k the same as before? thanks

Varies from place to place...call :em. $500 is pretty standard, though. I found most of the bay area dealers liked to play stupid car dealer games....try Fremont Honda first. They had the most low-key/honest sales approach of all the dealers in the area.
You may not need to leave a deposit at all, but rather simply a credit card # to "reserve" a 2K4 car that is coming in a shipment of new inventory.
I purchased my '03 S2K at Serramonte Honda because they were able to find me a Silverstone/Black at a competitive price. However, in order to reserve the car in the upcoming shipment, I only needed to provide a valid credit card number, which was NOT run through. Then, when the car arrived, I simply went in and made the purchase. I dealt with the Internet/Fleet Sales Manager, not the regular sales staff, and I had negotiated my price up front before I agreed to provide my credit card #.
Although I didn't buy my '03 S2K there, the Internet Sales/Fleet Manager at El Cerrito Honda was very nice to deal with. At the time, they had a Sebring Silver/Red on the lot that I could have driven home. However, this was not my 1st color choice, so I needed to think about it. El Cerrito Honda had a policy of NOT taking deposits to hold existing inventory, which made sense in light of the fact that they would likely be able to sell this car to someone else relatively quickly.
Hope this helps.
