Default Buying first car online

Hello everyone my name is Jon. I am looking to purchase my first s2000 and I am buying from someone in another state and having it shipped to me.

I need to know any and all steps I can/should take to protect myself as a buyer.

I am not getting a loan I am simply wiring the money from my bank to his bank and then having a carrier pick the car up from him. He is a legit guy and is on this forum as well as others but I still want to protect myself. We have agreed on a 10 mile warranty and that there are no dents, grinds, smoking, tranny issues, motor issues, title issues, etc......

Should I write up a bill of sale and if I do will him signing it and faxing it back still count as its not an "original" copy???

Just want to know how I should go about this considering I am wiring all the money and taking all the risk. Thanks!

A 10 mile warranty? You can also consider using Paypal to make the payment. Then you have a recovery course if the deal falls through. With wiring the money, you have no recourse. Use overnight or Priority Mail for quick document exchanges.

I'd suggest using an inspection service (not mentioned in your OP).

Def get it inspected.
Maybe have the money on hold til you get a satisfying inspection?
Maybe get a s2ki member to take a look.
If It were me, I'd look in to a escrow service for the money.
That's a lot of money to just hand over on their word.

Yeah, S2000s are waaaay too prone to being abused to go without a thorough inspection. Get a prebuy done.
