buying my first s2000 today, which one?
I am picking up an s2000 today.
my choices which I can't make up my mind which I want
1. 2004 ap2 , berlina black, 107,000 miles and its 107,000 miles for $13800
2. 2001 ap1 yellow, 38,000 miles and $15,000
I really like the body style of the ap2 and really want black, but is 107,000 too much. Ive read around the forums where some peoples engines go bad after 100k. I know its a sports car so people drive them hard. Which one would you guys pick
i only have a 16k spending limit
also theres another one. 107,000 miles formula red but no maintanence records and its 10,800

you really cant buy an s2k based on price. I would buy the s2k that has been the most well kept. Ive seen s2ks with 30k on them and they looked like they've been through hell. While on the other hand Ive seen a handful of s2ks with 100+k and they still looked like they rolled off the show room floor.
100k is nothing for a honda
but if the car was severely abused for those 100k, that motor is done
one thing I learned about S2000's is, the amount of money you'd spend changing an ap1 over to an ap2 (bumpers & lights) you could have gone ahead and bought an ap2 ahead of time, and gotten an all around better car (sorry ap1 guys)
all day long i see AP2 s2000's with 50-70k miles selling for 15-16k. there is no reason you should be settling on either of these cars

based on the info id go with the ap1 but do look at the maintenance and overall condition of the car. it might be a good idea to take it to your mechanic and he can lift it up and take a gander at some of the more vital areas for you
