Default Buying a s2000 that hasn't been driven in 2 years

Hi all,

Wanted to get your opinions. I have an opportunity to buy an S with a blown engine. The car has been sitting in a lot for 2 years without being driven. I can get a used engine for about 2500 or so.

The rest of the car is in decent condition. What are some other things I should look for? I'd probably have to get new tires, flush all fluids, anything else?

Also, how much do you think I should I should pay for it? It's a 2003 with about 70k on the chassis.

If it all works out, this would be my 3rd S. it'd be nice to get back into one.

Thanks!

Blown engines come from abuse, usually. Check everything else out- transmission, differential, suspension, brakes, etc.

good luck.

My S2k is an 01. From the car fax that I understood that my car were sitting almost 5 years. Seems to me that my car was crash and put it away. I pick-up in perfect condition from a owner. I have put it 10,000 miles in two years with 0 problems. When I say 0 problems I mean 0 problems. Obviously I change old the fluids on the car. I also tracket a lot.

If the price is good go for it. S2k are pretty realibles.

I'd recommend flushing all the fluids to start then going over the list Elistan made.

Is this your only option?

If I was building a track car, no problem but I would personally spend the extra money to buy one running. Life it too short.
