i found 00 s2000 with 56k miles that i want to buy
but when i did carfax on the car mileage is 90k+ went down to 20k+ and now owner is claiming 56k miles....
also car failed emission once when moved to washington...
do you guys think this is just error from carfax?

I'd walk and keep looking. Eventually one will come along with fewer owners and lower miles.

If you don't trust the Carfax, run an Autocheck.

But seriously, why run the report if you are going to second-guess it?

 

Definite pass.

The car was leased, repossessed, and most likely rolled back. 3 strikes and that car is out.

 

Good luck explaining the mileage inconsistencies when you to re-sell the car. Pass on this one.

 

There were several instances of the milage reported; all were increasing and were reasonable. It has been rolled back. That is a huge flag. Unless you want to offer a ridiculously low price and, if you get it, accept there may be some other issues with car, I would walk on this.
