you will get owned by the 350z and you can beat the rest of the list if you are a decent drivers.

its very fast....you can kill all the civics even if u cant drive for sh!t (non hybird ones)

If you did that you would never hit a 13.99. This motor stops making power after 8300 rpm. Shifting any higher would only result in wasted time and a slower

Good job. Like I said, I've only had the car for about a month. So I'm trying different methods. I'm use to drag racing, just not with this car.

Have you ever done a 8300 rpm run? I'd like to see the difference in time.

Xplosiv Some hybrid civic's will get killed too. I beat my friend in his 1991 Civic Hatch with a JDM B16A1 by about 4-5 car lengths. so again anything is possible in a street race.

All tracks and cars respond differantly, then throw in the weather and there is no one method that works best everytime. A little practice and you should know what works best on your car. I didn't try shifting at 8300, maybe it would have helped, oh by the way, that was my only day at the strip, I was just curious what the car would do. Best of luck to you!

When to shift is one of the most important things in racing. All cars are different, you can't take all cars to redline and expect the best time. I don't know first hand about the S, but the best way to calculate shift points is looking at you cars dyno chart. You need to factor in the gearing and power at given RPM levels. Here's an example..

Let say these are you dyno numbers (taken from a s2000 sheet I found on this site)

6000 rpm 170hp
7000 rpm 190hp
8000 rpm 210hp
9000 rpm 190hp

Now not knowing the car, lets say that a 1st to 2nd shift losses 2000 rpm (mind you that depending on ratio, 2-3 3-4 4-5 ect. shifts may very) shift at 8000 and falling to 6000 nets a loss of 40 hp. Shifting from 9000 to 6000 nets you a loss of 20hp. So running on this, shifting at redline would net you faster 1/4 mile times.

Again, most of this is speculation, I don't know the gearing, actual dyno numbers, or the ability of the driver to rev-match and shift fast. Take it for what you want. Peace

I don't know. I haven't even owned my car for One month yet. But from what I've learned so far it likes high revs off the line. I'm staring to find that a clutch drop at 6000 rpm's with lighting fast shifts at 8300 rpm every gear seem to work quite well.

S2000 cannot compete with the 350Z on a straight line 1/4 mile. The 350z is more quick .... but on the twisties is a different story ...

Check Best Motoring Vol.6 DVD

I have raced a 350z that has 20"rims and w/o them too , and he pulls on higher gears.(4,5)

Stock S2000 cannot beat a stock 350Z thats the truth .. it doesn't matter to me, our cars are of more quality. When we finished racing he stopped at the side of the road and the stickshift was stuck all the way back he couldnt bring it to neutral...

You'll beat me in my '01 S2000 because I drive mine like I love it, not like I stole it.
