Buying Salvaged s2k: Need s2k advice
I've basically been looking for a donor car for a few months now. I've been looking to build a Ariel atom chassis kit car take off. Before I can have the tube chassis made up I needed to find a car to build it around. This might be it!
The report lists $13 - $15k for repairs. Being I use to work in a body shop I know at least 8k of that is for the body, paint and air bag replacement and reset dash of bag deploy codes. The report also says the car moves and starts on its own power. Not far im sure but that's a ok sign.
Like I said, im looking to salvage the guts of it for a kit car. Exterior and chassis isn't of use but part out/resale for me. The parts and drive train is where I'm buying for.
So I need help from the s2k guys. What are the major points of inspection for these cars? I know the basics. But I need to know the trouble, major or red flag spots for these cars.
Hopefully I can get answers. I guess the car is shipped off to the main land friday.
I'll follow up with pics so you guys can have a look and see where I should focus, and see if you see anything with red flags or lost couses.

On an ap2, not much to check. Compression check maybe.
Lool for the thread for new owners. Lots of good stuff in there. You'll see right off which stuff doesn't apply to you (say, soft top issues, etc).
Are you using the steering rack? Only mechanicals I would be worried about from the pics, other than radiator.

That car is at copart there is not a buy it now price but car is on reserve/approval. Is the 5000 an estimate of the price? I would suggest buying a less desirable color and possibly something maybe higher miles if you want a deal. Chances are that car will be fixed so I doubt it will sell cheap. Especially being on the west coast...

Good Lookin out.
But still even on that site the prices people are offering. Your almost better off buying clean title.
Even the Vettes. On a $50k car wrecked at both ends they are selling for $30-$35k.... That's some slim profit margin even if you do come out on top. Going to be hard to flip a slvg car for less than 10% cheaper than a clean title after putting man hours and replacement parts. Panels and paint alone im sure your hovering $5-$10k.. Not even including air bag reset and replacement.
I wouldn't pay half of what some of these go for. Even for the kit car where none of the body panels matter to me lol

Cause I need either a registered auto purchaser to buy these for me, or open a auto business to enter the lot/bid.
Anyone? Or does anyone know of a 3rd party for iaai I could go through?
Thanks!
