Default buying an used S2000, please help...

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so please be kind to me. (hehe)

Anyhow, i'm considering trading in my '01 prelude SH for a '01 S2000. I testdrove the car this weekend, and I found the S2000 to be SUPERB!

However, I have one little problem. During the testdrive, while in gear(i think 3rd gear) i released the gas, and I heard some noises from the engine(or axle). This happens every time when I released the gas while in gear. The owner told me this was how the car is.

Is this standard in all S2000? Or just the 2001 model?

Please help...

BTW: I tried searching before I posted my question, so sorry if this is a repost.

Don't be cheap and spend the extra few grand and buy NEW. Much less headaches and nothing to worry about except the 600 mile break-in point.

BTW, from what you are describing, it sounds like the infamous decerlation buzz coming from the tranny. Looks like that car needs be have the TSB's done to it.

I would buy new, but the dealer here in northern cal. is asking for +500 over MSRP.

I asked the owner if he had any "TSBs" done, and he said no.

So after the TSB fix, is it suppose to be smooth?

our car is a roadster... meant to be driven topless, as a roadster.
with the top on it is noisy... engine noises, tranny noises, top noises, etc.
with the top off the only sounds are from the stereo or the rear-end (tailpipes) at VTEC.
top-off= sounds you want to hear!

I would get a used MY02. The upgrades are worth the extra dollars.

The glass rear window alone is worth it!

I testdrove this car with the top down.

Regardless, if the top is down or up, the car shouldn't be making the nosie when you depress the gas pedal. That's why Honda has a TSB for this.

Really lame materialistic advice which you will no doubt hear here.

I would get a used MY02.
Very good advice.
