I was looking at the Car and Driver website, did a search for S2000 road tests, and saw that C&D tested a S2k, 350Z, Mach 1, and a Audi TT. The S2k was ranked 3rd. C&D claimed a 6.3 second 0-60, and said most normal folks should expct more like 7.5 or so.
What is up with this? I thought S2k was supposed to do about a 5.8-5.9 0-60. At least that is what most magazines get.....

They say they dropped the clutch at high rpms to get the 6.3 0-60.
Here is the link for the road test.

Seriously a WRX can do 0-60 in a lot better than 5.8.
It is damn near impossible to outlaunch a well driven WRX. Once you get traction you wil reel them in pretty good though.

The S2000 is not a dragster. It's strength is not 0-60. It has no torque and torque is needed for acceleration. Even if you rev it like mad it still makes just over 150lb-ft. This thing is a sports car to be enjoyed just driving, enjoy the handling, the connected feel and decent acceleration once it gets going. The car would need a significant boost in the torque department if you want to drag it. Wrong car for that purpose.
The S is about finesse, about quality engineering and top notch materials and fit and finish. It is a surgeon's scalpel and not a butcher's knife.

Again, when people talk about s2k's 1/4 and 0-60 times, look at where they sit in SCCA, they own BStock. The s2k is about balance, not gut wrenching mullet pleasing strait line acceleration. hehehe mullet

My 5.0LX does 0-60 in the mid 6's. During launch, my WRX feels considerably stronger than my 5.0LX. It took a while, but I finally got the launching of the WRX down, and since then, the WRX feels considerably faster than my 5.0 LX. I would "guess" that I am doing high 5s with the WRX, while a better driver could beat me with my own WRX for sure.....
