Default cabin noise

I've only had my S for 2 days now, I am noticing this sound inside the car. It sounds like air is coming into the cabin through the dash somehow. Its only on the driver side, when I drive down the road, the faster I go the loader the noise gets. It's basically a windy sound, something related with airflow from outside. Somebodt please help me with this it is aggrevating!

Take it to the dealer if it's new or to the seller if it isn't. Your description is not specific enough for a diagnosis, it could be a screwed up seal, or problem with your top or window?

I guess bringing it to the dealer would be best. It's really hard to explain where th noise is coming from, I know the car is noisy inside anyway, but I'm pretty sure that this sound isn't normal. Imagine driving in a 100 mph hurricane and the wind is aimed directly at your windsheild, thats kind of what it sounds like when i'm only going 40 mph. It's a mystery I guess, Thanks for your help

That is wierd. Try driving another S at the dealership and see if you hear the same noise.

One way you can help us to answer your question would be to give us a little more information. For example:

Are you driving with the top up or down? If it is up, are you sure it is securely latched? If down, is the boot cover installed?
Or do you have a hard-top installed?
Are the windows up or down when you hear this sound?
What model year is your car (the plastic or glass rear window could make a difference)?
Any mods made to the car that may account for this sound?
What kind of aeroscreen is installed, and is it up or down when you hear the sound?

The more information you give us the better for someone to answer your question. Good luck.

Its a MY2000, when I hear the noise the top is up and securely latched down. It's not coming from the rear of the car. Where the windsheild meets the dashboard would be the best description of where it's coming from, and only on the driver side. The windows are up, and I don't have any mods done that would affect this.

Thanks for the tip, I never thought of trying that. So if I just press the air circulation button it should stop any airflow from coming into the cabin? It's just kind of weird because when I had my 97 Prelude, the air coming through the vents or dash, wasn't loud at all. And now with the S2000, it sounds like I have a gaping hole in my dash where all the air comes in! Anyway, I'll try what you said, Thanks

OOOOPS!, some how, I accidently deleat my own post

Any way, yah, try that. Not every model comes that way, though. Like I said I like it that way, I hate turn on the AC or heat, even in winter.

Hmmm... I don't know what "RM 4 2" suggested, but you may also want to try changing the air flow selector (dash+foot, center, foot, defrost ... knob) setting and see if it changes the sound. Although the flow-thru ventilation in the S2000 is very good, I don't think with the top up and windows closed there should be a lot of air-flow coming through the vents (I don't know for sure, since I normally drive with my top down and there is a lot of air-flow with the top down).

When you say "driver's side only", is it because you only hear it from your side or do you ask your passenger if s/he also hear it from their side? Is the passenger side vent open or closed?

By the way, I assume the fan is off, right? Speaking of the ventilation system, you may also want to check if the air filter for the ventilation system is installed properly. If it is missing (for example), it may account for the sound.

Another question I forgot to ask: When you say "it sounds like I have a gaping hole in my dash where all the air comes in!", are you just hearing the sound or is there actually a rush of air coming through the vents?

Please keep us updated on whatever you found, and how you solved the problem.
