CAI question
I have been searching the post trying to find some information on CAIs and have found some good information but I'd like to get some opinions.
I am looking into getting a CAI for my AP2, The only other modification I am planning is a Burk test pipe. The rest of the engine and exhaust will be stock. So now I need to decide on a CAI. One of my biggest requirements is that I don't want to cut my hood or bumper cover. I want to keep everything as stock as possible and insure I have the ability to revert any mod I make. I am not overly concerned with the increase in sound. Below are the options I have looked into.
-I like the Spoon style snorkel but it seems to be designed for the AP1, not AP2 (but it can be modified). I don't like this option because it will requires cutting the hood. Estimated cost $120 (fiberglass).
-I've seen some nice cooling plates that help direct cool air into the stock air box. I like this option because it's an easy install and looks stock but I am curious as to how much it helps. Estimated cost $60 fiberglass).
-K&N has a nice CAI that replaces the stock air box. It tunnels down to the lower right finder, just above the plastic splash guard. Currently this is the most appealing because it is an easy install and there is an actual Dino chart that shows a performance increase on an S2000 (about 6HP and 3TRQ). I've inspected the area where the filter would actually sit and it seems to have good isolation from engine heat, access to cool air and some protection from water. I also like the idea of eliminating the weight of the gigantic stock air box. Reverting back to stock would be easy. Estimated cost $175 (aluminum).
I am sure many of you guys have some of these types of mods done. Any input on your particular mod and experiences would be appreciated? Please keep in mind that I will not be making any other mods aside from the CAI and Burk test pipe, everything else will be stock.

I have always been a fan of the snorkels. The spoon style snokels do NOT require cutting of the hood and the response at higher speeds is great. I believe Muz sells a snorkel that is made specifically for the ap2's. J's Racing has a snorkel version that does require cutting of the hood and is more expensive.
i have the K&N FIPK GEN II
i like this intake because it was sorta easy to install (stock lines pain to remove and mounting the box is sorta tight.)
but its right there. intake changing is a breeze no need to remove the bumper.
no scare of water.
the box that surrounds the filter blocks out most of the heat.
sounds awesome.''
give it a check out

I have alway liked the snorkle intake. I have a Spoon and I think they have an AP2 version. Js has 2 types, one that you have to cut the hood and one that you don't. If you don't care about it having a name brand on it, there are quite a few sold on Ebay. Some in caron fiber and some in fiber glass. I have a friend that bought the Spoon style in fiber glass for his 06 and it works just fine.

Rajun- Nice pics! That looks alot like the K&N CAI I am looking at. Are you saying the AEM V2 is a high hydrolock risk? even if I stay away from low water x-ings?
JimmyB- I wouldn't mind a no-name fiber glass Spoon style snorkel. Can you ask your buddy where he found it on ebay. I did a search but only see them for the AP1.
