Here is a link to my take on use of the rad plate/CAI method:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry1012749

You will note that there is a bit more to it than just installing the rad plate with the scoop incorporated into it. It uses fabricated scoops behind the grill for ram air and a second source of cool air when the car is going to slow for ram air.

It works, and there is no hood cutting or any non-reversible modification.

Got one for the Scion xA too. Great build quality and the clamps that come with are REALLY nice.

Rajun- Nice pics! That looks alot like the K&N CAI I am looking at. Are you saying the AEM V2 is a high hydrolock risk? even if I stay away from low water x-ings?

JimmyB- I wouldn't mind a no-name fiber glass Spoon style snorkel. Can you ask your buddy where he found it on ebay. I did a search but only see them for the AP1.
I was being sarcastic. There have been alot of threads (not lately though) about people hydro-locking their engines. I seriously think that if you put some kind of umbrella over the filter and don't drive through water that go up to your door sills, you don't have anything to worry about. I' wash my car all the time and even drove from Syracuse, NY to Englishtown, NJ (about 4 1/2 hours) in the rain with no problems....or worries.
