The only time the Stock intake is a liability is if you have been sitting around in heavy traffic for a while. Once your get moving, there's plenty of fresh air flowing into it. "Shoddy engineering" I think it a bit of an exaggeration. Not optimized perhaps... shoddy, hardly.
