Default CAI Suggestions...

I am thinking about getting a CAI, could you all please tell me:
1. What type you bought and the cost
2. Where you bought it from
3. Realized Gains / Dyno sheet
4. What you think overall
5. Any other similar mods that have worked really well for you

Thanks,
Nix

1. I have an injen, was about 230(+-)

2. Bought it from Bulletproof Automotive.(One of the board sponsers here)

3. Don't really know of any gains, maybe a little. I think most of it is sycological b/c of the sound.

4. I love it, looks great, sounds great, makes oil changes easier.

5. Don't have any other major mods yet. Coming soon though

If I could add to nix' questions... do you feel it alleviates the performance loss that occurs in hot weather?

I have the AEM.
Cost $375.00 Canadian (all inclusive delivered to my door).
Got it through a GB out of Toronto.
Don't know about measured gains but I can squawk the tires going into 2nd easily now when I couldn't before.
I thing this was one of the more worth while mods I've done. Sounds normal below about 4000 rpm, above this it sounds downright "mean".
I also have the Neuspeed catback exhaust V2.0. I love the sound of this too. This, combined with the AEM makes the car sound like it was meant to.
No more hot weather sluggishness.

ps. I didn't remove the front bumper to do the install as some have indicated. I also did not use the stock AEM air filter that came with the kit. I used the JR filter instead. Only a small modification needed to the end of the AEM pipe and the filter fit nicely in that space and gives 37 sq. inches more filtering area.

This is very true, I can attest to this. Keep in mind that in the scenario where you park the car (engine off) for 5-10 minutes after running the car, the car will still feel sluggish in the low revs until the car gets up and moving again for a few minutes. However, going from point A to point B in traffic on a hot day is a much more livable experience with the CAI.

With the AEM, I can't really say for sure. When I got to the point where the filter went on, I held up each filter and looked at them and thought "what the heck, it can't hurt". It may not need it but at worst, it might take a little longer to get dirty or not as dirty by the time I got to cleaning it each year.

Another suggestion would be to get a custom intake made at a performance fabrication shop. I have a ceramic coated steel tube with a K&N filter. I am happy to say that I didn't lose any performance(still running the same time @ the drag strip). The sound from the steel pipe makes the car sound unlike any s2000 I've heard yet. Cost was 225.00. The beauty with this idea is that you can mimic any premade intake, like aem or k&n.

Thanks all (especially Jeff for pics). Do you have to remove the front bumper for the install and/or is this an install I could do myself? I am reasonably mechanical, but if it involves removing large peices of the vehicle I might prefer leaving it up to a mechanic. Also, do you have to remove the fake ducts in the front bumper area to make it work correctly? if so, how tough is that and what parts did you use to make it look nice afterwards?

Thanks alot,
Nix
