Have any of you purchased the bypass valve that is there in case of your filter getting submerged or soaked? Just curious if you guys think it is worth it. Are all of you making your cuts on the inner wall of the front air scoop (radiator) and/or have any of you removed the fake scoop on the left side to let air in? My only concern with that is soaking the filter element.

Everyone,

I got a link to a pdf showing the power gains with the AEM CAI. http://www.aempower.com/pdf/results/21-504...S2000%20CAS.pdf Looks well worth the money. For some reason at 3750 RPM you get massive HP and Torque gains, anyone have a guess?

Most respondents here have agreed that the bypass valve is an unnecessary addition unless you are going to drive through standing flood waters deeper than the height of the filter. Any engine should be able to accept a small amount of water in the form of mist easily (as in water injection). Even if a part of the filter got wet, the resultant airflow would be more of a mist as opposed to water going up a straw.
As for what to cut, some people have cut the fake duct and put the Coastal Metals cover over top. I left mine alone and cut the "side" plastic just in front of and beside the radiator to let more air in.

The HUGE sound change when hitting VTEC with the AEM and Injen CAI units indicates the HUGE change in airflow. We are talking normal VTEC sound change x 10. I'm not surprised that these units will develop more HP in VTEC land (where I live) do to them being able to suck in that much more air.

Now that I mention it, I'm going to go listen to mine

Go to the sponsors section and click on Import Development. Mingster is the owner of the site. I'm pretty sure he can get Spoon parts too.

does anyone have the comptech cai? if so please let me know your opinion.
I have the Comptech CAI. I love it. Looks pretty bad-ass (especially with the carbon fiber cover over the blue filter). V-Tec screams just like everyone elses does, and there was a noticable gain increase. Go with it. You won't be sorry. Go to scienceofspeed.com and talk to chris.
