CAI vs ARC induction box?
hey, Im a newbie as you obviously can tell, anyway i was wundering whats the difference between a CAI and a ARC induction box? What are the benefits of having a ARC induction box over a CAI? plz let me know!!
i'll make this simple and easy for you.
CAI- cold air "induction" so your drawing cold air to your engine. Minimal HP gain (5+-hp)
ARC- looks a whole LOT better...JDM bling bling. Known to heatsoak. Doesn't draw in cold air, but air in your engine bay (warm-hot). Minimal gain (5+-hp).
You are less than likely to lose HP on either set up. EVEN if you do on ARC, you won't feel the difference, period.
price difference? your going to pay a whole lot more $600+ for a brand new ARC intake and chamber set up VS $200-300 cold air. Why the difference? BLING BLING and JDM.
If you think paying extra 3-400 for an ARC intake and chamber for just looks and that only, go for it. IF your on a budget and could settle for the look of cheaper intakes, thats your route.
good luck!

ARC is made for ON/OFF throttle repsonse but power will not be as much as CAI. Heatsoak is an issue. Don't know how hot it will be cuz no one really test the intake temp difference cuz when the car is in speed there should be a lof of air drawn thru the radiator to the engine.
For it's price, I will go for J's or Mugen instead.

Ok, I bought an ARC this past summer and unless you live on the equator (or Texas), the heatsoak is a non issue. The intake just doens't make a difference in our cars. It just makes it sound nicer
I went with the ARC b/c it fills up the whole engine bay and looks really nice. The AEM types do pull in colder air, but you have a ton of space left over that looks like something is missing. In the end it's down to money and looks.
I have to say though, if I was a hardcore racer or something and needed every ounce of energy out of the car, then I'd go with an AEM. or snorkle style like mugen.
