HELP! installing ARC air box
hi all, I just got an ARC air box + chamber,
I got it used, so there is no instruction manual.
I took off the stock air box, but can't find a place to mount the arc one. there are 2 brackets come with the arc, a longer one and a shorter one, and there are 2 holes on the box, one on the bottme and one on the side.
please help.
also, for u guys with arc chamber, does a strut bar still fit?
thanks

you cant get around the ac line....another US owner installed it also, the ARC intake is designed for JDM Right hand drive vehicles, so on the LHD vehicles, you need to bend/reroute the ac line for the intake to fit. do a search and you should find something....
hope this helps,
John

if you look hard in those threads, you will find out what you need to do. I actually think you need to reroute it, it cant be bent.
It kinda sucks, but its a nice intake, and I've heard it does wonders for throttle response!
Good luck!

Got it done! johnny, thanks for the input.
But once again, it CAN BE BENT, it's not pretty. I don't know exactly what does it mean by reroute, fabricate a new line? that will probably cost as much as the intake.
If u mount the intake further to the center, using a 10mm spacers, it will makes some decent clearane, so u don't have to bend the ac line that much. After u bend the AC line a little bit, u can just use the air box to push the AC line down. Then, on the driver's side, the T bracket will need to be bent towards the engine by 4cm. The AC line can not be mounted back to the bracket on the beam anymore. For now, I used zip tie for that. I will have a shop make some custom bracket for the AC line. As for the small bracket goes to the front of the airbox, u will not fit that in if u want to run AC, period otherwise u have to bend a 90 degree angle pointing the ac line straight down, which will probably break/clog the line. Once again, I used zip tie there for now, I will make a aluminium bracket for that. I'll finish it by this friday, and post the dimensions of my new bracket for anyone who needs it.
I will post pix about how I installed it
p.s. for all u arc haters: I am telling u this intake does great!
little physics class for u guys. This intake is designed so that the air will resonate inside the box, therefore increase the pressure and density ( yes, I do mean it's kinda like boost, but a really low one). The chamber is designed not only for store enough air in it, but also as the secondary air resonating chamber. This intake sounds mean after 4K rpm. Makes decent power, but the throatle response is just great!
