The calipers are done!
Great stuff! I always wondered why Honda skimped on the caliper finishing and brake rotor vents and your family's hard work really is impressive.
I track my car, so I'm apprehensive of painting anything near the brakes due to the heat! Some slotted / drilled rotors can crack easily due to track conditions, so I'm sticking with standard discs, too. I'm just using stainless steel brake lines (totally unnecessary for a street car) and Ferodo pads, along with ATE SuperBlue brake fluid.
Brake pad changing is deceptively simple once you do it once, and I can do the whole car in under 30 minutes now. Sure beats paying 100 EUR for the $tealer to do it!
I can't wait for a decent day with sunshine to break out, it's been a long winter! There's lots of detailing to be done....
How do you guys clean the insides of your rims? I have a spare set that's terribly dirty, and I can't remove the brake dust / dirt with anything!
Here are some project ideas for the car, some of which I've done:
* Rick's accessories (centre console, shift knobs, visor covers, etc)
* trunk saddlebags
* diff / transmission oil change
* stereo upgrade
* photo safari (pick a theme and go drive around taking pictures of the car to match the theme)
* video camera mount on wind deflector and film your drives
