Camaraderie amongst drivers
Having driven my S2000 for only 2 months now, I have come to realize here in Southern California at least, I always receive friendly gestures by drivers of other S2000's. Question: By driving an S2000, have I now become a member of an exclusive community? This car gets more attention than any other car I have ever driven. I am also amazed at how many posts there are for a car that stopped being produced a few years ago. BTW Southern California folks, the last 3 digits of my S2K's license plate is "555" just in case you are saying hello.
IMO, yes – you have become a member of an exclusive community. There's an auto commercial that perfectly defines our community – by presenting its antithesis. A young woman trots across the lot to one of those mini-SUV/tall wagon vehicles, gets in and proceeds to list the reasons why it's so awesome – by naming gadgets. We didn't buy gadgets. We bought a brilliant piece of machinery. We bought engineering for a different purpose – to stir the soul of the driver.
We nod at each other in mutual appreciation for the fantastic roadster we chose – because we 'get it' and we're pretty sure the other S2000 driver does too.
Congratulations on your purchase. Enjoy it!

I think the S2000 community is more of a way of life then anything. Its Unlike any-other car group around iv ever seen so much Camaraderie between people. Every chance i get to Wave, Flash headlights whatever i do so. I believe this is one of those cars that's more then just a car.

Have you had a chance to check out the socal forum btw?
