Camber Wear
*Feel free to move this if it's in the wrong section*
So I just bought my 2006 S about 3 weeks ago. I was taking a few pictures last week or so and I was turning the wheel to get into position and my buddy was outside and pointed out some camber wear.
Holy crap.
The car has about 11,000 miles on it and the insides of all 4 tires are quickly balding. It's only about an inch or 2 from the inside side wall to the edge. The rest of the tire looks brand new.
So I went to have an alignment yesterday... The before "measurements" were within spec and the new ones are as well (obviously). I don't really expect soft performance tires to last long in the first place, but they would last a pretty long time without this wear.
IIRC, the sheet said my rears were -1.8 degrees... and my fronts I don't remember, but they were within spec. The way they were wearing, I would have bet that I was running -2.2+ degrees.
Is this normal? And how many miles (mostly highway for me) should I expect out of stock tires? If they all wore evenly, I would bet I could squeeze out 25,000 out of them, but not with this wear.
Thanks

Dude. Normal.
The alignment is set up for wear when cornering.
If you drive in a straight line --> uneven wear.
Depending on how you drive, OEM tires can last from 8k to 15k miles.
Some people have stretched it out further, but my preference is to replace them before bald.
Either get a harder tire compound or you can adjust the alignment to be more appropriate for straight line driving.
Either way, you'll compromise cornering and handling.
You can't have it both ways.

I enjoy the handling characteristics of the S2000. No where did I say I wanted to change the camber in order to make the tires wear evenly.
I wanted clarification on whether or not this much camber wear was normal. It's not a big deal.
Hell, I like the amount of camber. I will track the car 3-4 times a year but 99.9% of driving is either <2 mile trips or 50+ mile highway trips. Plus, I live in the mountains. Even though my trips are short, they are fun.

I love the roads up arround Blowing Rock - I miss that part of the country. I think it is 421 on the way to Bristal is a BLAST - I drove it in my RSX-S and it was full of 1-2 gear corners. Go hit it up before the snow.

how is this normal? it is not "camber wear", sounds like a excessive toe out issue. i would like to see the alignment specs. i put 10k on my CR with 1/4 toe out and i do not have any of this wear. my wife's 07 had 18k on the stock tires, and they wore flat and had 60% left.
edit: i want to see pics of the tires if possible.

Of course we know that "spec" can be a little open to tech interpretation....
