Default Can The 01 Rear Window Be swapped With the Glass One???

I have an 01 S and noticed that the rear window has a zipper on it. So I was wondering if anyone has upgraded and fitted one of the newer glass rear windows? If you have upgraded , how much did it cost?

Yes, it could be upgraded with some modifications. Unfortunately you will have to replace the whole top and the zipper does not do jack. There was a thread where people posted anywhere from 695 - 1295 just for parts.

I know of at least one guy in Portland, OR that had a warranty claim for a worn top. His dealership was going to replace the top and was willing to swap to an 02 top for the price difference between the two tops. I think it cost him around $500, but don't quote me on that.

I'm sure you can find a few others that have done this if you do a search...

I had a feeling that it would not be easy or cheap.... That's where Honda kills me, why not make it so you can just un-zip and replace it. They would sell a boat load if they did!!!

I don't think Honda really gave this much thought, so it's not like they did it to drive us nuts a couple years down the road. Nor do I think Honda believed these plastic windows would be that "bad" or that people would hate them that much and want them replaced at a later date. Once they realized these points, in went the glass window starting in '02.

I guess at the time Porsche was doing the same thing.... So Honda was not off-base with the design. But, now it would be nice if they could give us a good option on upgrading it at a decent price.

Simplest "upgrade" for the window is just to keep the top down more often...
