Default Can anyone help?

What's up guys! I just signed up on this sight so noone knows who I am yet but I wanted to ask for some help if I could. Today I was driving my 02 S with about 730 miles on her. I was cruising at about 80 and came up to a stop light. While I was downshifting the RPM's were up there around 7 or 8k. I think I downshifted into 4th but may have hit 2nd and when I let out the clutch it was like she was in neutral but I know I had it in gear. When I left from the light everything was fine and she shifted like normal. I was wondering if there was something wrong with my tranny? Or if there is a safety over rev switch or something to keep you from banging the rev limiter if you downshift into too low of a gear? I know about what the rev limiter does but it never got there. It was just like I had the car in neutral. The RPM's were'nt even up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pertaining to the rev limiter, I was told by a fellow member who works at a Honda dealership parts dept. That the rev limiter only works when accelerating, if you downshift accidentally or purposely and over rev there's nothing to stop that and that you could easily blow your engine.
