rev limiter help
Does the s2k have a lower rev limiter when the engine isn't warmed up? i'm just wondering because i drove it right after starting and it felt like i hit the rev limiter or it popped out of first gear but when i looked i could have swore it was still in gear? I was thinking that maybe the clutch slipped and then grabbed hard, but i seriously doubt that was the issue... Then afterwards i put into second and everythig seemed fine. At the next light i gunned all the way to 9k rpm in 1st and in 2nd without any problems.

Do a search. This has only been discussed 850,927 times before. Yes, if the car is not warmed up enough then VTEC will not engage.
But since it is stupid to drive any car hard before it has warmed up, you would never be doing that, right?

sorry guys, i should have RTFM
thx for the help though, sorry i just recently got the car, i knew vtec didn't engage when not warm because my prelude vtec did the same thing but i don't remember it having a lowered rev limiter when not properly warmed. i just thought maybe the engine just didn't engage the bigger lobe but kept revving.

I had a 94 vtec, dark green, tan leather,
but it got stolen. ohhh how i miss it, 4th gen ludes are awesome!! now my h22a is rolling around in some civic somewhere..... as for the lower rev limit i guess i didn't take it to VTEC when it was cold, maybe it did have a lower rev limit
